Red Cross seeks public affairs volunteers

The American Red Cross, Greater Richmond Chapter, is seeking public affairs volunteers. Volunteer duties may include writing for the chapter’s newsletters or web site and coordinating media relations, especially during times of disaster.

A public affairs class will be taught Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the chapter’s office, 420 E. Cary Street in Richmond. The class is free and will be taught by three veteran Red Cross public affairs directors.

“Our responses must be immediate, and when a disaster occurs, be it a tornado or a house fire, if we have residents responding, the help will come much quicker,” said chapter CEO Reggie Gordon.

To register for the class, call the Red Cross at 804-780-2273.
